Research and Scholarship
My research interests are grouped around the development and application of geographic information systems and geographic information science, latterly within a grid computing environment. Socioeconomic applications include: information integration within GIS (including remote sensing – GIS integration); geodemographics; public service delivery (specifically health, education and policing); Internet GIS applications and e-social science; housing and retail market analysis; fractal analysis of cities; and social survey research practice. My contributions to the international research literature have been funded by numerous research grants, including knowledge transfer/exchange activities. I also have extensive Ph.D. supervisory experience, and my research has been linked to important pedagogic and outreach activities. I expect to maintain and further enhance this profile over time.
